Dear Sir
I thought that the following incident might amuse your readers.
Mr Jeff McCarthy, a member of our syndicate, was shooting the Sweethope Loughs drive at the Hawick and Blackhalls shoot on the Ray Estate in Northumberland, when unbelievably, in Jeff's case, he actually connected with a high pheasant which landed with a splash into the smaller of the two loughs. The fallen pheasant hit a 2lb 12oz rainbow trout, both of which were retrieved by Jeff's black lab Zak.
The bag for the day was as follows.
